The Age of Kingdoms

This is the time that is current within the Aeden campaign. Nation states, tribes, kingdoms, principalities, even empires have risen. Intelligent men discuss philosophy, politics, art, science and culture, there is room for dreamers and artists to flourish, supported by the great number of people living in peace. Unfortunately wherever there is peace, there is often also a lack of leadership, and this creates power vacuums for evil men to exploit and dream of filling. Examples of nation-states are:

The Decapolis, or Ten Cities
The Pirate Kingdom
The Empire of Halrome
The Kingdom of Aderry
The Principality of Caldolia
The Protectorate of Erethius
The Republic of Sherd
The Feron Alliance
The Irani Tribes

In order to allow this background material to develop naturally (and not just rip it straight off our ancient history) I am starting to develop the proto-nations that might have existed in the early days of each racial group. There is roughly one such proto-nation for every 100,000 people in that racial group. Because my main focus is to develop the background for the Decapolis, I am starting with the Attians.


Attian Nations

There are nine proto-nations amongst the Attian peoples. They can be referred to by their locations. The table below shows each proto-nation, the most influential leader and the relative strengths and weaknesses of each leader in terms of their Social Class, Personal Wealth, Fighting Ability, Diplomatic Skills & Knowledge of Magic.
